World renowned writers contribute original pieces addressing the issue of violence against women, bringing their particular vision, talent and take on the issue with performances by celebrated actors including La Chanze, Sarita Choudhury, Rosario Dawson, Troy Garity, John Benjamin Hickey, James Lecesne, Charlotte Martin, Cynthia Nixon, Denis O'Hare, Victor Rivers, Isabella Rossellini, Lois Smith, Marlo Thomas, Nia Vardalos, Kerry Washington, and more. Beyond the time constraint of five minutes or less and the theme of women and violence, each monologue is for the writer to realize. No constructs, restrictions, or rules. A fantasy of a world where there is no violence. A poem about the physics of a slap. A memory. It can be a rant, a speech, a scene, a meditation or a prayer. Anything is possible. Exceptional actors will perform each monologue and the evening will be under the direction of Joe Mantello, Loy Arcena, Oskar Eustis, Loretta Greco, Kenny Leon, Pamela MacKinnon, Michael Mayer, Leigh Silverman, Claudia Weill, and more. The list is growing. Singer-songwriter Charlotte Martin will write and perform an original song for the evening.
